If you’re the kind of person who believes dessert should come with a little kick, meet your new go-to treat: the Ginspresso Affogato. It’s a rich, creamy, coffee-lover’s dream that takes barely a minute to make, yet feels fancy enough to finish off a dinner party.
Traditionally, an affogato is an Italian dessert made by pouring espresso over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We’ve taken it up a notch and added Ginspresso, giving you all that bold espresso flavour with a smooth, liqueur-style finish. The result? A silky, slightly boozy, melt-in-your-mouth moment that’s heaps good from first spoon to last.
Ginspresso Affogato Recipe
You'll need:
- 30 ml Ginspresso
- 30 ml fresh espresso shot (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream
How to make it:
- Add a scoop or two (orrrrr more, who's counting?) of your favourite vanilla ice cream to a bowl or glass.
- Pour the Ginspresso over the top, a bit like an ice cream topping sauce.
- If using an espresso shot for the more traditional affogato style, pour that over the top as well.
- That's it! Dig in with a spoon and enjoy.
Why It Works
Ginspresso just takes the classic affogato to another level. Its so smooth and tasty that the espresso shot is completely optional - most people just drizzle Ginspresso straight over their ice cream and leave it at that.
The benefit of adding an espresso shot as well is the contrast in temperature. As the hot coffee works its way through the melting ice cream, it adds an extra sensation to make your dessert a little bit special.
